In a slight departure from his more recent postings, former Manchester House chef AIden Byrne is set to give a £2 million transformation to Black Friars Pub in Salford. Having closed his fine dining Spinningfield-based Restaurant MCR earlier this month citing issues with the lease, Byrne is heading up the Salboy funded restaurant in the centre of their development on Blackfriars. The restaurant is set to offer three separate dining experiences over the three different floors with one being a traditional pub style, whilst the first floor will feature a more intimate experience and a new extension will allow for open kitchen casual dining. The news of the new restaurant marks another step on a boom year already for Salford with Islington Mill announcing they had secured nearly three quarters of a million pounds in funding from the National Lottery for vital repairs to the Grade II listed building.
