Beer festival: Manchester Oktoberfest in Albert Square
Lederhosen? Check. Dirndl? Yep. Rousing Bavarian singing voice? Uh-huh. Manchester Oktoberfest is returning to Albert Square for this year’s knees up. Now in its fourth year, the festival brings German food and beer to the city in a traditional tent as well an outdoor beer garden and plenty of room for dancing on the benches. To eat, expect brezel (twisted knot bread), bratwurst, schnitzel, hendl (chicken), and schweinebraten (German style roast pork) – there are rumoured veggie options available. There are various sessions this weekend, with different ticket tiers to be had – check out the link below for more information.
Wed 18-Sun 22 Oct, various time sessions, Manchester Oktoberfest, www.manchester-oktoberfest.co.uk

Pub crawl app: Beer Adventures
Yeast Berlin has brought a Manchester beer sightseeing tour to the city via their own app. When you’ve got it, you can choose one city for free, with the Manchester one offering three routes: Indy Man Beer Con 2017 tour: showcasing the best of the festival in the city’s bars, Manchester Beer tour: a list of great and solid venues, and Manchester Brewtaps: an itinerary to visit Manchester’s breweries and sample their wares. It’s a great tool to take the stress out of a group adventure, or perfect for a nosy around on your own.

GRUB: Leaving Party this weekend at Mayfield
This weekend will be the last time the food fair will be partying at their Mayfield residency. They are moving onto new digs just down the road, to Fairfield Social Club on Temperance Street. The website says that they’re ‘building a new place where all sorts of nice things are going to happen’ and that ‘everyone will have a nice time’. Nice. In the meantime – head down to Mayfield to give GRUB a leaving do they won’t forget. There will be…party hats! Craft beer! Street food! All the stuff you know and love them for, as well as the final 100% vegan Plant Powered Sunday.
