As a nation, we like to try and get into the spirit of things – even if we do quickly forget about them. So, while participation in sports may be down since the Olympics last year, we can still bathe in the afterglow of it, even if we’re not now turning up on cold, wet mornings to watch triathlon trials like it was hoped we would. So, in that spirits, it’s okay if you fancy turning up to the Aegon GB Pro-Series over the next couple of days just because you’ve got caught up in the Wimbledon hype – honestly, nobody will be judging you. Purely a men’s event, this is the part of the circuit where up-and-comers play to build up their experience and hopefully win the £10k prize at the end of it. It might not be Murray on Centre Court, but it’ll be a high level of skillful tennis, and you might catch a glimpse of a future grand slam star, too.
