Let’s hope Summer comes early, because the World Naked Bike Ride is taking place near the beginning of June. Returning for its lucky 13th  year, the event is not about exhibitionism or titillation. In fact, it’s a cheeky protest to raise awareness of the many issues facing cyclists, including deaths and injuries on the roads, pollution, congestion, and roadworks. Participants will meet on a Friday evening at All Saints Park on Oxford Road, where there will be body painting and music. Accompanied by a bike-based sound system, the ride will weave its way through the city centre. It will pass through many of Manchester’s most iconic areas, including Albert Square, the Northern Quarter, and Canal Street, before finishing back at All Saints. Full nudity is not compulsory, but the aim is to be ‘as bare as you dare’. Last year, the event had over 400 people of all shapes and sizes joining in.
