Deco Records Residency at The Railway Didsbury
The Railway – that pub on the corner of Lapwing Lane and Burton Road that isn’t The Metropolitan – has long been a favourite amongst Didsbury drinkers. This Saturday evening, the cosy drinking hole invites Withington record shop Deco along to put up some of their favourite local up-and-coming bands. The packed lineup includes punk four-piece Pleasures, along with garage-psych band Mr. Ted, rockabilly outfit Michael Seal & The Be Positives, indie poppers The Bleachés and experimental indie band Plato. Arriving early is recommended, as standing room will be at a premium.
Sat 26 Jan, The Railway, 3 Lapwing Lane, Manchester, M20 2NT, 7.30pm – 12.30am, www.facebook.com

Francis Lung at The Creameries (pictured)
Chorlton-based Bakery/Mary Ellen McTague eatery The Creameries hosts this low key acoustic gig from one of Manchester’s favourite musical sons Francis Lung. Lung formerly played with experimental Manchester group Wu Lyf, a band perhaps better known for their cultivated air of mystery than for their actual music, and yet he’s still cut a niche for himself as an accomplished solo performer since the band’s split in 2012. He will be performing stripped-back tracks from his forthcoming debut solo album. This is likely to get packed out, so booking ahead is highly recommended.
Sun 27 Jan, The Creameries, 406 Wilbraham Road, Manchester, M21 0SD, 7pm – 10pm, www.facebook.com
