Hiroshima and Nagasaki Remembrance Event at Manchester Museum
This Monday marks the 73rd anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, which will be commemorated at this event, alongside the bombing of Nagasaki. The bombings, which mark the only occasions where nuclear weapons have been deployed by any country during wartime, are an opportunity to reflect on the pursuit of peace and denuclearisation. There will be readings and a minutes silence held in remembrance. Families will also have the chance to make paper cranes and bees as part of a workshop.

Graham Massey at PMT Manchester (pictured)
808 State’s Graham Massey comes to the PMT music shop in Salford this Wednesday ( 08/08, geddit?) to run a free production masterclass. Massey was instrumental in creating the acid house sound of the late 80s, and has also worked with luminaries such as Björk and Primal Scream. At the time of writing, this event has sold out, but it’s definitely worth checking with the shop for extra places on the day, if you want to see an audience with one of Manchester’s greats.
