Transformation Tour at Gallery Oldham
Gallery Oldham is a hidden gem of the region: A thoroughly modern museum with a rich, varied collection of artwork alongside artefacts from Oldham’s history. It’s currently in the midst of a big renovation project intended to bring the gallery’s older buildings in line wiht the polished sheen of the contemporary wing, and the latest stages of this renovation are being showcased through a series of tours this Saturday. In addition to the two tours – running at 11.30am and 12.30pm – you can also catch fun, family-friendly activities throughout the afternoon.

Urban Family at Stoller Hall
It’s been several years in the making, but Stoller Hall (pictured), the new purpose-built concert venue for the Chetham’s School of Music celebrates its official opening this weekend with a packed programme of music and performance. A number of these concerts are ticketed, and many are already fully booked, but you can still grab free tickets for this performance from Urban Family, a group of passionate musicians assembled by accomplished cellist Gabriella Swallow. Swallow’s band will be giving two performances on Saturday, one at 5pm and an earlier family-focused performance at 1pm. This should be an excellent show, and an excellent opportunity to check out Stoller while it still has that ‘new concert hall’ smell.
