For four weeks, the Appleton Estate Rum Bus will be giving Mancunians (tourists welcome too, of course) a Jamaican-flavoured summer. From Friday, the fully functioning mobile rum bus will be serving up cocktails curated by West Didsbury’s The Violet Hour at an 80 capacity pop-up outdoor seating area (and indoor, because this is Manchester). Classics such as Rum Punch, Mai Tai and Jamaican Mule will be expertly shaken, as well as the bespoke Rum & Raisin Nice Dream, with weekly specials to boot (announced via Twitter). Inspired by the Jamaican Omnibus in Kingston in 1948, the bar’s interior will maintain the original features of the bus, allowing the visitor a traditional experience. It’s also The Violet Hour’s first city centre project, so come and drink to that.
