Night Slugs 15: Bok Bok, Ikonika, Leonce, River Moon | The White Hotel | Fri 2 Jun | £15

After a decade and a half of records and parties, Night Slugs can still be regarded as one of the most important labels around their role in the fusing of global electronic rhythms and aesthetics with UK club sounds like grime, dubstep and funky house seems more relevant than ever in 2023. OG founder, Bok Bok celebrates their 15th birthday down at White Hotel alongside Ikonika, who returned to the label in February with Supernova, a dancehall album featuring Jamaican chop vocalist 45Diboss.

Meat Free: Pink Concrete, Voicedrone b2b James Newmarch | Derbyshire Brewery Arms | Sat 10 Jun | £13

This day and night party sees techno ideologues Meat Free take over the DBA until 4am, with founders Blasha and Allatt playing all day long in the courtyard from 2pm. The pair recently recorded a live stream with Berlin stalwarts Steffi and Virginia, swapping wives for b2b partners. At 9pm the party moves indoors for Meat Free debuts from Prague’s Pink Concrete and Fold founders Voicedrone and James Newmarch. Support comes from resident aalice.

One Small Step: Phasmid, Kisa | Stage And Radio | Fri 16 Jun | £6

Bristolian promoters, One Small Step debut in Manchester down at Stage and Radio, inviting Leeds-based Phasmid – hot off the back of a 100% production mix on HÖR Berlin – for a headline set of 140, UKG and footwork. He’s joined by Manchester-based selector, KISA, whose monthly shows on Vandelay span afrobeat, amapiano and UK funky. Jungle and techno label, Demolition Squad also join.

Community 16th Bday: Irfan Rainy | Soup | Sat 17 Jun | £5

It might only be Community’s 16th birthday but Irfan Rainy has over 40 years as a DJ clocked. His label, Rainy City – Manchester-based as you might have guessed – pioneered disco-house and its second release was even reissued by Motor City Drum Ensemble in 2016, a testament to its influence since 1996. Sat 17 Jun sees Rainy spinning from 11pm until 4am in the intimate Soup basement, bringing a mixed bag of broken-beat and afro-beat.

Doodle: Hidden Spheres | The Eagle Inn | Sat 1 Jul | £6

Hidden Spheres’ last few releases have had the ear-worm quality that has captured attention everywhere, with the epic rave piano stabs on the recent Rhythm Section EP, Tanzen feeling like the hit of the summer already. He hits The Eagle Inn in Salford for a headline set in his home city, invited by house and disco promoters, Doodle, who hosted Secret Sundaze at YES last weekend.
