Yum Cha @ Foundation | Altrincham

Having delighted countless diners at their Minshull Street restaurant since 2022, the wildly popular dim sum bar Yum Cha is heading south of the city to open a new outpost in Altrincham’s Stamford Quarter.

Located inside the recently opened 2,166 sq ft Foundation, the second Yum Cha site will serve a mesmerising selection of its famous roast meats, noodle soups, traditional Chinese classics and stacks of steaming bamboo boxes.

Bakehouse32 | Stretford

This month, Stretford’s favourite pizza joint opens in a bigger, brighter space after vacating their Chester Road premises to serve more punters in the former home of Stretford Food Hall, which closed in February.

Open from 9am-4pm every Wednesday through Sunday, Bakehouse32 will sling an irresistible variety of New York-style pizzas alongside small batch, organic sourdough bread and hand crafted pastries from Holy Grain and brioche doughnuts from DGHNT, while coffee will be supplied by Dark Woods and Red Bank.

Maya | Chorlton Street

The Michelin Guide-featured MAYA has launched a brand-new ‘Cocktail Bistro’ concept, open to the public since Wed 10 Jul, which has transformed their ground floor space and Canal Street Terrace to provide ‘the perfect spot to catch rays on a sunny day’, with a regular series of floor-filling Disco Club Sessions in the basement Pump Room from Fri 12.

Serving an opulent array of modern cocktails and bistro classics from their critically acclaimed menu, MAYA’s new dining project introduces a casual ‘all day, all night model’ with an elevated drinks list featuring purified espresso martinis and fresh twists on the daiquiri and spritz.

The concept bistro will also run a summer-long happy hour, with a set of 7 cocktails available for just £7 each all night Wednesday and Thursday and from 12-7pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Flat Iron | Deansgate

Easily this month’s most anticipated opening throughout the region, world-famous London steakhouse Flat Iron finally brings its staggeringly affordable high-end cuts to the Grade II-listed 200-204 Deansgate building with space for 150 meat-lovers. From July onwards, they’ll be serving sumptuous fan favourites like the trademark steak, beef dripping chips, creamed spinach, truffled macaroni cheese and more, while specials like the Wagyu steak and the Scottish ribeye are finished on a custom-built charcoal grill.

Caravan | St. John’s

Inspired by the wool sheds and trail hiking huts of New Zealand, North London coffee masters Caravan are set to open their first Manchester unit in the St. John’s development, with a light and spacious 200-cover haven adorned with recycled materials across two all-day dining rooms, a bar, two outdoor terraces, a takeout brew bar and their own roastery.

American Pies | Ancoats

Developed by the team behind Chorlton’s beloved Brewski, American Pies have opened a second Manchester site on Ancoats’ Blossom Street, where they’ll serve their bucket-sized Chicago deep dish pizza pies alongside garlic bread burritos, cheesy focaccias, loaded tots and more.

Now open in the New Century kitchens, brand new ‘cocktail pod’ Measured provides the celebrated music venue with a selection of signature drinks, including the Vodka Basil Smash, a refreshing, crisp mix of citron vodka, lemon, orgeat, and basil, as well as the vibrant and spicy Tropical Fire, made with tequila, mezcal, creme de peche, passion fruit, tabasco, and lime, and The Rhubard Rise, a fruity blend with a tart finish made with vodka, lemon, orange, and rhubarb.

New Century’s latest food launch, Good Things, reimagines the classic American diner with an assortment of elevated fare using high-quality meats and locally sourced produce. One of Ancoats’ best-loved bakeries, Companio has unsurprisingly expanded its neighbourhood sourdough empire to the Northern Quarter with a roomier space on Spear Street.

While their original Radium Street premises are closed for refurbishment, you can head down to their new spot now to sample all their famous Viennese pastries, fluffy, crackling bread and freshly ground coffee.
