If your summer holiday plans have been disrupted this year and you’re not sure what you’re going to do to get away in the coming months, there are a great selection of cosy, luxurious and beautifully situated holiday cottages within easy reach of Manchester. While it’s not quite the same as a city break in Europe or a week in the sun, you can enjoy the best of what the North West has to offer (and hopefully Wales too, as restrictions there are lifted) as bookings for cottages start opening back up around Saturday 4 of July. We’ve picked out a few of the best holiday cottages within reach of Manchester to get you started on planning a relaxing and enjoyable holiday even in these trying times. It’s not an exhaustive list – but should hopefully provide a little inspiration to help you on your way. After more? Read our campsite guide.

The Old Billiard Room, Glossop

This one-bedroom property is perfect for couples looking to get away, and its Glossop location is within easy reach of Manchester. The property itself is grand, with extensive landscaped gardens providing an idyllic and peaceful setting. The Pennine Way is within 2 miles of the property and the peaks of Kinder Scout and Bleaklow are also easily accessible, making this a great spot for those looking to do a bit of walking – if you can drag yourself away from the gorgeous interiors of the house itself.
