Whether you’re searching for the perfectly-charred bubbles of a Neopolitan crust, the endlessly stringy cheese of an NYC-style pie or Detroit pans so deep you could cannonball into them, Manchester’s slice scene is well and truly flourishing.
Take a peruse through our guide to some of the best pizzas the city has to offer…
Heading across the globe, Nell’s take their inspiration from the pies of New York City, adding their own take on the staple with weird and wonderful topping combinations. Tucked into a relatively unassuming lot in Altrincham town centre is Pizza Anna (formerly Pix Pizza but still the same team). Dough is hand-stretched and slid into the wood-fired oven, which takes up pretty much the entire space, and a couple of minutes later comes out some of the best Neopolitan pizza you’ll find anywhere in Manchester. Barring a couple of tables outside, this is a takeaway operation — but the fantastic Pi Bar is just across the way, and they’ll let you take your pizza in to enjoy alongside a lovely craft ale.
Set in the charming suburb of Heaton Mersey, Black Spot Pizza has been quietly responsible for some of the city’s best pizza for a couple of years now, also boasting a supremely stylish dining room and bar that has quickly become one of our favourite spaces in Manchester. You can get all the usual staples, your marinara and your Margherita, but there are also more adventurous forrays, such as the jerk chicken or spiced lamb pizzas.
With locations in both Altrincham and Ramsbottom, Tre Ciccio’s marvellous, award-winning, Neopolitan pizza is made that bit better when the restaurant’s retractable roofs are slid open and enjoyed al fresco on the elevated terrace. Spritz is optional…but encouraged.

Kings of the Neopolitan slice, Chorlton’s Double Zero have got the art form down and then some. Fresh dough is made on-site daily, using only four ingredients, flour, water salt and yeast, before fermenting for a minimum of 48 hours. From there it’s into wood-fired over that’s been brought in all the way from Naples, ensuring that perfect, bubbling crust. It’s BYOB too, as if you needed anymore convincing.
