This weekend sees Independent Venue Week come to the UK for the first time, with Soup Kitchen teaming up with Sways Records and Generic Greeting Collective for an evening of live music and exhibitions. Taking place across eighteen locations nationwide, Independent Venue Week offers a series of gigs aiming to celebrate small venues doing their part in the local music community. From 3pm on Sunday, Soup Kitchen will host the best of the Manchester area, with performances in the basement from the likes of Kult Country (pictured), Bernard + Edith and Francis Lung, followed by DJ sets from Hoya:Hoya’s Jonny Dub and Generic Greeting Collective. Meanwhile, Natalie Curtis and Generic Greeting Collective artists will take over the ground floor with exhibitions and a print fair. Running through til midnight, we suggest getting there early to discover the finest local talent and support the UK’s best independent music venues.
