Homobloc has unveiled a packed lineup as the iconic queer block party returns this September for its seventh edition.

The festival takes over three stages across Depot Mayfield on Sat 26 Sep, plus additional stages at the historical Star & Garter pub and Vault, a brand-new 1,000-capacity stage set to debut at the former ticket hall of Depot Mayfield.

This year’s headliner is Grammy Award-winning pop star Kim Petras, who will be joined by a host of esteemed global artists including Cobrah, a special b2b set from Chicago’s Honey Dijon and Derrick Carter, all-female DJ collective Girls Don’t Sync and Manchester’s beloved DJ Paulette.

S.A.S.S., the powerhouse quartet of Saoirse, Moxie, Peach and Shanti Celeste brings the quartet to Manchester for the first time as a collective, with an impressive DJ roster also featuring names like Job Jobse, Palms Trax, Aiden Francis, BASHKKA, Horse Meat Disco, Gina Breeze and Isabella.

Beyond its musical line-up, The Homodolls, curated by Creative Director Sophie Bee, sees more than 150 Homodolls bring the festival to life through drag, dance, theatre and immersive performance across every corner of Depot Mayfield.

Highlights include We Were Always Here, a new dance collaboration from Maisha Kungu Dance (MKD) celebrating FLINTA identities; PU RAUL’S SUPERMODELS from Club Rat Entertainment, featuring Drag Race UK stars Banksie, Awhora, Black Peppa and Marmalade; Shrek 666’s immersive new work Putting the T in Trade; the return of Angel Bella Presents: The Strippers of MCR; and Blackstage Pole, whose electrifying performance became one of last year’s standout moments.

This year will see Homobloc celebrate 35 years of FLESH. Born at The Haçienda, Flesh played a crucial role in normalising LGBTQ+ culture within the mainstream and became a symbol of the progressive spirit of the 90s.

A true trailblazer of LGBTQ+ nightlife, Flesh was also groundbreaking in giving a platform to the club’s first female resident DJs. This September, FLESH returns, taking over the upstairs of the Star & Garter, featuring a lineup of Tim Lennox, Kath McDermott, Guy Williams, DJ Paulette, Mike Hux, plus a special appearance from Adeva.

Vault will be hosted by hair-salon-slash-club-night-slash-immersive-theatre-show Ponyboy – a queer Glasgow-based club night dedicated to platforming trans and nonbinary people.

On curating the new Vault stage, Ponyboy comments: “Our nights are always a cultural happening, but with new eyes on us and a brand new stage to break in, we’re turning up the juice and seeing what shakes loose, to quote a wise poet. We’ve admired what Homobloc does for years, and debuting a new stage isn’t an undertaking we take lightly, so everyone kindly relax your throats and glue down your lace because we’re about to shut Manchester down.”

Debuting the new space, the stage will feature a diverse range of artists including Afro Pasifika DJ Lady Shaka, NYC-based DJ and activist Armana Khan, Berlin-based artists Meg10 and Luca Eck, I.Jordan, plus a rare DJ set from Dorian Electra.

Rod Connolly from Homobloc, comments: We are excited to present our first ever summertime edition of Homobloc, bringing together global queer icons, underground heroes, and the next generation of artists who we trust in pushing queer culture and electronic music forward.

In times like these, the connection felt at large-scale events like Homobloc are absolutely crucial for the community. A sea of 10,000 souls all under one roof, dancing ‘til we are free. It’s so powerful. You leave knowing that we are the many, and the people who demonise us are the few.

Homobloc presale tickets will go live on Thu 9 Jul at 10am. General sale tickets will follow on Fri 10 Jul at 10am.
