Plants to renovate Knutsford Market Hall have moved a step closer following the announcement of major grant funding towards the project.

Knutsford Town Council has confirmed it has secured a grant of £560,000, a substantial amount toward the estimated overall £700,000 needed to complete the refurbishment.

The renovations will include a complete refurbishment of the market hall interior, a redesigned frontage to create a ‘more open and welcoming space’, and the replacement of existing stall structures to create more storage space for traders.

The works will also deliver significant improvements to the energy efficiency of the building, including insulation, new doors and solar panels.

Plans are currently at a very early stage, with more details to be developed and announced within the coming weeks, ahead of a planning application being submitted by the end of the year. Once a timeline has been established, the council says it will determine how to accommodate traders while work takes place.
