Liverpool’s Mexican street food concept Lucha Libre has opened in the Great Northern, next to All Star Lanes. Lucha Libre takes inspiration from the inventive restaurants lining the streets of Guadalajara, dismissing the Tex-Mex label in favour of authentic, strictly Mexican cuisine. The menu includes fresh popcorn with chilli, rib enchiladas, sweet potato fries and a selection of tacos, quesadillas and burrito, all packed with flavour – occasionally eye-watering flavour. What’s more, with an extensive drinks menu to match – tequila shots with your meal, anyone? – Lucha Libre doubles as dinner venue or somewhere in this cool new part of town for cocktails. We’re looking forward to a crawl at some point involving the new lo-fi Neukolln bar, brand new Almost Famous Burger Bar, All Star Lanes bowling alley and retro bar, Brew Dog craft beer house and the Albert Hall, surely Manchester’s most iconic new performance space. Deansgate really is having something of a renaissance.
