Fri 20 May – Levon Vincent & DJ Deeon @ Hidden
Love Dose and Hidden team up to present a night of top house music this Friday, with a double header featuring Novel Sound bossman Levon Vincent and Chicago hero DJ Deeon. This one should be a great balance of both the smooth and rough ends of the genre’s spectrum and Hidden is the perfect venue for it.
Sat 21 May – Swing Ting @ Soup Kitchen
We’ve got two of our favourite DJs/people playing at Soup Kitchen this Saturday, in the shape of Hipsters Don’t Dance, aka Kazabon and Hootie Who. Champions of party music from all sections of the globe, expect plenty of soca, afrobeats and dancehall. As always, Fox will be hosting proceedings, with Joey B, Samrai and myself holding down the warm up/cool down. Still just a fiver on the door, there’s plenty of bang for your buck here, especially with the SK soundsystem firing on all cylinders. We’re super excited for this one.
Wed 25 May – Jamz x Chow Down @ Soup Kitchen
Elijah & Skilliam’s excellent, multi-city Jamz parties are coming to an end in Manchester, and they’re teaming up with the city’s own Chow Down to give it the send off it deserves. Jersey’s Uniiqu3 headlines proceedings – and her raucous take on Jersey Club music is sure to get to the club popping. Butterz’ own Elijah and Skilliam barely need any introduction, but these two grime (and more) kings are at the top of their game right now. If that wasn’t enough, Chow Down’s own Finn, Craig AD, Fallow and Grizzle will be ensuring that this is a leaving party to remember.
Fri 27 May – Percolate – 10 years of Hypercolour @ Antwerp Mansion
Percolate help celebrate 10 years of dance music behemoth Hypercolour with a day/night party running from 4pm to 4am. Touching down for the first time in 3 years to headline, Roman Flügel – who for many would be enough to justify the entry fee alone, is joined by Luke Vibert, Chris Spero and Hypercolour co-founders Alex Jones and Ste Roberts. With pre-sales floating around the £10-15 mark depending on when you’re reading this, any fan of the label would be crazy to miss this 12 hour Hypercolour birthday party.
Fri 27 May – Transmission Funk @ Hidden
Some of the UK and US’s finest bless the VOID system at Hidden for Transmission Funk, as Pangaea, Matrixxman, Batu, Facta and more give their take on techno-tinged bass music. With a CV between them that boasts labels such as Hessle Audio, Dekmental, Unknown To The Unknown, Livity Sound and Timedance, these guys are at the peak of what they’re doing – this is going to be a physical experience on a number of levels.
Sat 28 May – Royal T & Matt Jam Lamont @ Sankeys
Two generations of garage take to the turntables at Sankeys, with relative newcomer Royal T offering his party-ready take on bassline and grime influenced weaponry, and one half of garage legends Tuff Jam, Matt Lamont offering a smoother, but no less enjoyable spin on the genre’s possibilities. Tickets start at £5 and rise to £800 for a 16-person VIP table, so plenty on offer, whatever your vibe is. Champagne crew, your time.
Sat 28 May – Homoelectric ft. Mr Ties @ Hidden
The long-running party returns with a huge guest, founder of Berlin’s Homopatik parties – Francesco De Nittis AKA Mr Ties. Ties will be playing one of his sprawling 6hr sets in room one (he has been likened to Jackson Pollock in his mixing style – go see for yourself), while you can expect the usual antics from residents, Will Tramp and Jamie Bull, in room two. Tickets are £12. (RA)
