Thu 29 Jan | Amy Becker | Soup Kitchen
This month, Waxed help to launch Horizon festival, the mountain-based music fest that takes place in early March. Headlining is 1xtra’s Amy Becker, who’s building quite a reputation for uniting dancefloors with upfront bass heat and the best of US mixtape rap. Support comes from Silas & Snare Surgeon and the Waxed residents.

Fri 30 Jan | Mungo’s Hi Fi | Zoo
Scottish soundsystem Mungo’s Hi Fi are big favourites in Manchester, with many a visit to this city leading to sellouts. This should be no different, with the Scots bringing some of the hottest dubplates and reggae pressure alongside the Dub Smugglers themselves and the vocal talents of Kuntri Ranks and Kwasi.

Fri 30 Jan | Preditah | Antwerp Mansion
It’s Rum&Bass’s second birthday, and to celebrate they’ve enlisted the help of one of grime’s leading-lights, Preditah. Definitely on the more dance-friendly end of the genre’s spectrum, with plenty of nods to the genre’s garage roots, he’s also been exploring a more house-influenced sound lately, as demonstrated by his latest release, the Craig David-sampling Selecta. Supporting are the resident DJs that have represented for Rum&Bass throughout its two year existence.

Sat 31 Jan | Hoya:Hoya | The Roadhouse
Hoya use January to showcase part of their ridiculous resident lineup, with Illum Sphere, Krystal Klear, Jon K AND CityLife’s DJ of the Year 2014 Jonny Dub. Quite simply one of the best parties around, Hoya finds the perfect combination of eclectic and coherent. Hosted by the mighty Chunky and with visuals by the incredibly talented Emmanuel Biard, if you’ve not experienced Hoya already, make 2015 the year you do.
