Supper club: Real Junk Food Takeover at Ancoats Coffee Co
Corin Bell and the Real Junk Food Project are joining forces with Ancoats Coffee Co. It’s the usual format – seasonal produce that would otherwise be thrown out made into menu that can cater to vegan/vegetarian and/or gluten free diets. Funds raised go back into the project which works with businesses to reduce food waste and works with people in food poverty as well as campaigning to make the food system fairer and more sustainable. Pay-as-you-feel food, pay-what-you’re-told-to bar situation. Based in the Royal Mills development, Ancoats Coffee Co. has vaulted ceilings, regular art exhibitions on display and offers an insight into the heritage of the building.

Supper club: Taste the Love veggie feast with Gambian music at the Wonder Inn
Taste the Love is a regular vegetarian and vegan feast held on the last Thursday of the month. Just turn up for a relaxed evening of food and music. Gambian musician Jali Nyonkoling Kuyateh will be playing the kora (an African harp) while the menu includes roasted butternut squash with red onion tahini and zatar, parsley and barley salad with kohlrabi, sweet potato apricot and harissa curry, finishing with semolina coconut cake.

Italian food and history walks with Salvi’s
Independent Manchester stalwarts Salvi’s are running a city-wide Italian food and heritage walk as part of this year’s food and drink festival. Created by Maurizio Cecco and the Salvi’s team, the route begins at the festival hub and guests are invited to sample selected dishes at Salvi venues. Learning and eating whilst wandering around the city – a classic Sunday activity.
