Food pub news: Steve Pilling (Dockyard) transforms Dog and Partridge into a ‘Terroir Pub’ in Didsbury (pictured)
The pub has recently been refurbished and reopened by Steve Pilling (of Manchester’s Chop Houses, Damson and DockYard fame) and Angus Pride (from Living Ventures and former head of Gaucho). This is the new partnership’s first ‘Terroir pub’. The delightfully renovated bar (pictured) serves beers from Manchester breweries as well as a specially selected wine menu, whiskies, cocktails, soups, sharing boards and more. Book your tickets for Mary Ellen McTague’s first supper club collaboration with the Wild Beer Company since the Fat Duck graduate took over the Gallery Cafe. The menu includes a range of award-winning ales food matched with dishes such as scallop ceviche with bisque and roast corn, wild mushrooms with birch powder, snails and malt loaf, a vension pasty, with barberries, celeriac and truffle and a bounty of cheeses and breads. PLY: Tap Takeover by Northern Monk in the Northern Quarter
Leeds brewers Northern Monk are journeying over the Pennines to commandeer the taps at PLY on Wednesday (25 Oct). There will be a selection of seven of their beers including a double IPA collaboration with Wylam Brewery I Like To Moob It Moob It, their Gingerbread Ice Cream Brown ale, and modern pale ale Faith. Because you gotta have faith, faith, faith. This weekend: GRUB food fair relaunches at Fairfield Social Club
GRUB Food Fair and Fairfield Social Club’s new venture is full steam ahead, opening this weekend at the new venue. It’s still a five minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly train station, and all undercover as we march into colder weather. On Friday, The Gravy Train Poutine, Howlin’ Tacos, Diamond Dogs, The Otto-Men and ChouChoux are the street food line-up.
