The big weekend is on its way. Here’s what its got in store in Manchester’s club scene.

Meat Free Presents: XOSAR
American born, Berlin based artist XOSAR births the kind of dark, raw and brooding techno that has seen her release tracks on highly revered labels such as Opal Tapes and L.I.E.S.; home of scuzzy beats with a penchant for the weird. Her live shows are adorned with the likes of Korg Electribes and Kaos pads, and local promoters Meat Free have invited her to start your bank holiday weekend on a high. With previous guests Legowelt, Ben Sims and Tama Sumo, expect nothing less than a raucous affair with these guys (and also inflatable props).
Fri 1 May, Secret Warehouse (near Ancoats), £12, 11pm-5am, www.partyforthepeople.org.uk

HIKU presents: Beautiful Swimmers
With releases also on L.I.E.S., Manchester-based promoters HIKU (previous guests include Luke Vibert, Romare and DJ Fett Burger) have invited Washington DC-dwelling artists Maxmillion Dunbar and Ari Goldman, aka Beautiful Swimmers, to party with you. Purveyors of relentlessly fun techno and disco, the duo have shared the decks for seven years and their live shows have since been deemed by FACT Mag as brimming with shit hot records and surprises that are impossible not to dance to. Don’t expect to find walking easy the next day.
Sat 2 May, 1 Primrose Street, Manchester, M4 6AQ, £6-8, 11pm-5am, www.partyforthepeople.org.uk

Lowdown presents: Alex Metric and Riton
One of the top quality electronic artists to be born on British soil, Alex Metric is well known for his remixes; his version of Phoenix’s Lisztomania transitioning the original track into an electro-tinged club favourite. He returns following his Lowdown debut in 2013 and brings with him a member of the Ed Banger crew, Riton. Just like his label mates, Riton has championed the highly infectious electro-bass sound – set to light Sound Control’s atmosphere on fire.
Sat 2 May, Sound Control, 1 New Wakefield Street, Manchester, M1 5NP, £8, 11pm-4am, www.skiddle.com

Estate presents: James Zabiela
Known globally for his dexterity on the decks, James Zabiela is bringing his highly revered DJ set to Gorilla. Having spent the last 12 years honing his unrivalled technical abilities, his name on a bill has drawn in punters like a moth to a flame. His Born Electric label has released music from the likes of Alan Fitzpatrick, FaltyDL and Hot Chip; providing indication of Zabiela’s keen ear for quality sounds.
