Chester’s enchanting Roman Gardens is making the most of the balmy summer evenings this year as it opens its gates for the second month of moonlit movie screenings. Taking place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening in August, settle into your camping chairs, put on your wireless headphones (provided) and take in some movie classics next to the city’s Amphitheatre. Rotating each weekend, enjoy the likes of Amélie, Madagascar, Kind Hearts and Coronets, 28 Days Later, Avengers Assemble, Casablanca, Pan’s Labyrinth and Cinema Paradiso as you sip on cold drinks – or hot chocolate, depending on the weather – in the charming surroundings of the Gardens. Well worth the trip for the location alone, and off-peak day return tickets to Chester cost just £11.90.
