Award-winning illustrator Marcus Reed explores UK subculture in a new exhibition at Electrik. His visual history book ‘Saturday’s Kids’ contains 200 illustrations tracing alternative culture from the early 1980s to modern-day Britain. For two weeks from Thu 3 Aug, Electrik in Chorlton will showcase his colourful geometric portraits of ‘Skinhead Girls’ and ‘Terrace Terrors’. Reed once worked for Saatchi & Saatchi, and has since illustrated for Le Coq Sportif, MTV and Major League Baseball. The exhibition launch party (Thu 3 Aug, 7pm) will rock to beats supplied by Electrik DJs. You’ll be well oiled on launch night too, as south London craft brewery Gipsy Hill Brewing Company start a month-long tap take-over. And if you’re after a great-looking souvenir, Original Casuals will be selling t-shirts, books and prints. The ‘Saturday’s Kids’ exhibition will run until Thu 17 Aug.
