Home to Hollywood film crews, fancy coffee and world-class fashion, the Northern Quarter is about to take the lead when it comes to Manchester’s fitness scene too, with three specialised gyms opening over the coming months. Yoga Soul will offer hot and ambient room temperate classes suitable for beginners and advanced yoga fans while  Newton Street’s, Kor, is more in the Barry’s high intensity workout vein – think pounding music and HIIT classes with treadmills and weights in one room, and a womb-like spin studio next door. Small London-based brand Blok is different to anything else in Manchester right now. It’s USP is design – think exercise, in minimalist surrounds. Classes are eclectic allowing for a pick and mix approach to training; think rocket yoga, group running and ballet-inspired workouts. The gym will be located in the former railway warehouse, London Warehouse, on the shores of the Rochdale Canal. Dating back to 1874, This redbrick site was the home of the Place Aparthotel, but from Summer 2019, it will house Native Aparthotel, the Bistrotheque restaurant and bar as well as the first location outside of London for Blok.
