Oxjam have announced a live music showcase to help raise funds for the charity while giving a platform to three excellent North West bands. Top billed are the gritty Oldham post-punks Drink and Drive, whose distorted riffs and vocal outbursts pay homage to Mark E Smith. They’ll be joined by a pair of acts in the form of Primitive Knot (Manchester) and Danxia (Warrington), who both favour thicker, heavily layered soundscapes. The former fuse synths with psychedelic guitars for a fizzing plume of aural dystopia, while the latter is a quartet versed in the downtempo rhythmic ripples of 1980s shoegaze.
