PLY is a new(ish) pizza restaurant in the Northern Quarter that already seems to be carving out its own niche. The venue has a creative space which this month will be host to a rather apropos exhibition. ‘Ravenous Apparitions’, by the New York-based experimental artist Andrew Salomone, is a collection of animations created using pizzas. To launch the exhibit, next week Andrew will be running a free workshop where people can try their hand at his quirky animation technique. Using DJs’ slip mats, strobe lighting, and pizzas fresh from the oven, visitors can create the illusion of movement with their own zoetrope-like images. They are, of course, encouraged to eat the picturesque pizza afterwards. The event is delivered in partnership with Absolut Vodka, and there will be plenty of their product flowing. Booking is required and places are limited.
