MediaCityUK turns gaming galore this Saturday to celebrate Manchester’s emerging gaming community. Showcasing the latest games, apps and software, the day-long event offers participants the chance to find out about new software, meet high-profile developers – including the managing director of Game Republic, Jamie Sefton, and Lee Stott from Microsoft Opportunities for Indie Developers – and then put their knowledge to practice in a first-of-its-kind gaming tournament. Aimed at young gamers (aged 11-16), the tournament will see players go head-to-head in recently released video games, with prizes up for grabs. Registration is free and open to all – but places are limited, so both young gamers and potential gaming heroes should register at the website below before Thursday 10 April.

Sat 12 Apr, MediaCity UK, Salford Quays, M50 2HE. 11am – 7pm, FREE – but registration required, utcmediacity.org
