Running from Wed 9 to Sat 12 Oct, Feelgood Theatre’s award-winning production Slave: A Question of Freedom brings a poignant, inspirational tale of liberation and resonant insights on the nature of oppression to The Lowry.

Having initially opened The Lowry in the presence of The Queen with Crystal Clear in 2000, the acclaimed theatre company return to Salford to recount the deeply affecting true story of a girl’s stolen childhood and her dauntless journey to freedom.

Set between the Nuba Mountains of Sudan and the thrumming streets of London, the play follows the life of Mende Nazer, from her joyous childhood to traumatic enslavement and eventual escape to safety, through a captivating blend of storytelling, music and dance led by eight decorated international actors.

Hailed as ‘thoughtful, thought-provoking and ultimately inspiring’ by WhatsOnStage, Slave offers a transcendent celebration of the unbowed human spirit and the storied beauty of Nuba culture, while presenting vital meditations on the essence of freedom and the ways in which we can help the 49.6 million enslaved people around the world today.
