From an elf-operated snow machine to a lavishly adorned centrepiece tree, Spinningfields hosts an unmissable array of Instagram-friendly Christmas backdrops throughout the month, as well as enchanting dance performances and meet-and-greet opportunities.

Surrounded by Nutcracker figurines, adorned with shimmering baubles in a variety of ‘rich jewel tones’ and topped by a star which acts as ‘a shining beacon for visitors’, the grandiose Spinningfields Christmas tree stands 30 feet tall in Hardman Square, just behind The Lawn Club. Nearby – opposite Bagel Factory – the blue neon ‘Seasons Greetings’ sign casts the square in an ethereal glow.

A A short walk away, The Ivy Spinningfields’ ‘Manchester Rocks’ light display on the restaurant façade, which faces The Alchemist and Pret, complements Spinningfields’ iconic white and gold heart-shaped arch on the ground below.

On Spinningfields Square, visitors can pose both in front of and inside four large illuminated shapes.

On Fri 9, Sat 10, Fri 16 and Sat 17 Dec, a series of five-minute festive dance shows will take place in front of the heart arch at 12pm, 12:45pm, 1:30pm, 4:30pm, 5:15pm and 6pm, with the chance to meet the performers afterwards. Appearing from 6-9pm on the same dates, a pair of Santa’s elves transform the heart arch on Hardman Square into a Lapland-esque photo spot, complete with a high powered snow machineproviding the perfect festive picture opportunity in the heart of Manchester.
