Sounds From The Other City returns this Sunday, bringing another impressive lineup of live music to various venues across Salford.

Names for this year’s edition include the likes of Gruff Rhys, Halo Maud, A Guy Called Gerald, C Duncan, Muva of Earth, Nightbus and Free Love, who will be gracing some of the eleven stages at this year’s event.

Throughout the years, the festival has hosted early-day performances from now-acclaimed artists like Black Midi, Marina, Alabaster de Plume, Alt-J, The Ting Tings, BiPolar Sunshine, Hannah Peel, GoGo Penguin right through to 2017’s Mercury Music Prize winner Sampha, BBC Sound of 2018 nominee IAMDDB and 2021 Mercury Music Prize nominees, Black Country, New Road.

Each year the festival invites a selection of the grassroots independent scene of the region — including live promoters, record labels, club nights, magazines, and venues — nominates them a venue and budget and asks them to curate a lineup.

You can find this year’s lineup below, including the full list of venues for Sunday’s festival, which includes the historic Maxwell Hall hosting live music for the first time in 10 years.
