This week, the functional slow-living clothing brand TOAST has brought its Autumn Winter 2026 Printed Book to Manchester for a pop-up at independent Northern Quarter bookshop and print gallery Unitom, with displays exploring workwear, the anatomy of its Arlo Jacket and the work of Lewes-based artist Emma Carlow.

Running until Sun 11 Oct, the temporary residency collates stories and imagery from the new publication, while a small capsule of TOAST homeware featured in the displays will also be available to buy throughout the week.
The collaboration continues with an opening celebration and drinks at Unitom on Wed 7 Oct, before a panel discussion on Thursday considers the enduring role of print in contemporary culture. Moderated by Suze Olbrich, The Role of Print Today brings together Danielle Pender of Riposte Magazine and Rough Trade Books, Seb Emina of The Happy Reader and The Gentlewoman, and Unitom manager and buyer Tim Bell.

For a brand whose visual identity exists at the nexus of photography, publishing and simple, modern design inspired by natural landscapes, the pop-up offers a closer look at the ideas behind TOAST’s latest printed book in one of the Northern Quarter’s best-loved book and magazine stores.
