Manchester’s strong run of Michelin recognition has continued, with two new spots added to the coveted guide.
Amongst Michelin’s October additions, there were spots for both Bangkok Diners Club, which now operates from the kitchen at the Edinburgh Castle, and fire-cooking specialists, Stow, both of which have been open for less than a year.
While Michelin Stars, Green Stars and Bib Gourmands are only revealed at an annual ceremony, the wider guide is updated all year-round, with inspectors adding new recommended restaurants on a monthly basis.
Upon Bangkok Diners Club inclusion, the guide wrote: “Each plate looks neat and vibrant, delivering an array of well-balanced flavours and the occasional hit of creativity.”
On Stow, it praised: “With its winning combo of cocktails and cooking over fire, Stow feels like a restaurant for our times. Start (and end) your visit with a drink in the front bar, before taking your seat at the counter in the tucked-away dining room.”
Over the last couple of months, Michelin has recognised several Manchester restaurants, with Mary-Ellen McTague’s Pip, Shaun Moffat’s Winsome, Stockport’s Cantaloupe and Climat all being added since August.
The newcomers join other Michelin-recommended Manchester eateries like Erst, Higher Ground, Restaurant ÖRME, Another Hand, Sparrows, Adam Reid at The French and El Gato Negro. There is also the Michelin Green Starred Where the Light, and, of course, the city’s current Michelin Star holders, SKOF and mana.
