Tucked away beneath the covered parade opposite Chorlton Bus Station, you could be forgiven for missing the glass fronted Spoon Inn amongst the plethora of coffee and cake peddlers in M21. But with a new menu (of various takes on bagels) to compliment their endless list of speciality teas , plus an increasingly eclectic programme of events (We recommend Friday nights for rum and dub reggae, and the Dead Cat comedy series), Spoon is already scooping plaudits from locals as we head into the spring. There’s also an outdoor terrace, generously heated to subsidise Manchester’s infamous climate, adding another feather to Spoon’s cap. This, twinned with the house blankets and well-kept real ale are a treat for SoCho (South Chorlton) regulars. Inside, the whitewashed walls host impressive art showcases on rotation, while the benches are perfect for chats over a bowl of their trademark stew – the excellent Cocina del Fuego.
