Swiftly becoming a staple event in the city’s calendar, the Manchester Day Parade returns this weekend for an all-out extravagant celebration of our city’s rich culture and creativity – featuring vibrant costumes, giant characters and colourful floats. After over 45,000 people lined the streets last year, this year the event aims to attract even more as the parade dances its way from Liverpool Road, through Deansgate, past the Town Hall and back to Liverpool Road. Comprising over 2000 participants representing up to 80 charities, community groups and volunteers, the parade presents a carnival-style celebration of all things MCR. And with this year’s theme being Wish You Were Here, don’t expect anything less than giant postcards, tropical paradises and a very exuberant, community-inspired get up.
