This one-off performance showcases new music and visuals created as part of a unique and experimental month-long international collaboration under the watchful eye of Manchester’s own LoneLady. The acclaimed musician has joined the project as a mentor and, following a public call-out across the UK and Europe in December 2018, Liverpool-based writer and musician Laura Campbell, and Mari Sainio, a Finnish composer and producer from Helsinki, were selected to collaborate on brand-new work. Following this premiere, Both Sides Now (named after the iconic Joni Mitchell recording) will go on to be performed across Europe. The groundbreaking, genre-spanning project is part of the Both Sides Now initiative which is the brainchild of Manchester-based creative music charity Brighter Sound. The big idea behind the project is to champion gender equality in music. As part of the event, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, singer and producer LoneLady will be chatting to the two commissioned artists about their creative processes, the inspiration behind their new work and why international collaboration is more important than ever.
