As the shortest day of the year, the Winter Solstice could potentially be the most depressing. Thankfully, ‘In the Dark’, a collective of radio producers and other audio enthusiasts, have organised an event which will turn this gloomy time into something enjoyable. Taking place at the always-welcoming Castle Hotel on Oldham Street, ‘The Long Dark’ is an evening of stories told with sound. There will be audio documentaries, soundscapes, and stories that all explore the theme of darkness. Expect tales about everything nocturnal, from the long winter nights to the long dark night of the soul. The ‘In the Dark’ group host monthly events in London and have performed at Glastonbury and the Latitude Festival. Their work has been highly praised by the likes of The Guardian and Time Out.
