After bringing DJ Haus through to Soup Kitchen last month, Obscure treat us to a rare set from garage and dubstep pioneer Benny Ill. As part of Horsepower Productions, Benny Ill had a huge influence on the likes of Skream and Benga, with their album In Fine Style being a particular high point. I remember seeing him DJ at FWD and it was pretty spectacular, so there’s no reason to think this is going to be any different.

From one dubstep pioneer to another, Mala plays an extended 2 hour set at South this Friday. Fri 14 Mar | Carnival sounds at Overproof ft DJ Darka | Underdog
Now taking place every third Friday of the month, Overproof continues to push the best in carnival sounds downstairs in Underdog. This month marks the return of resident DJ Darka, with mic duties taken care of by MC Faro. The Oh Bacchanal! guys will also be supporting. Good vibes for not very much money at all.

Sat 15 Mar | Swing Ting ft Okzharp (pictured) | Soup Kitchen
This month sees the return of one of our favourite ever Swing Ting guests, Okzharp. Perhaps better known as a member of Hyperdub/Keysound’s LV, he’s an excellent DJ in his own right, offering expert South African selections that nobody in the UK can really touch at the moment. Local hero Jon K is also making an appearance – last time he played Swing Ting he had everyone in the palm of his hand until silly o’clock in the morning. The levels are going to be very high this time round.
