Wed 7 May | Obscure | Soup Kitchen
The popular garage night returns to Soup Kitchen for a resident DJ special. Although previous headliners have been extremely strong, with the likes of El-B and Horsepower’s Benny Ill, Obscure’s DJ team have proved that they can more than hold their own. Entry is free all night, but early arrival is advised – the last Obscure resident party was at capacity by 12.30.
Fri 9 May | Evian Christ (pictured) & Mssingno | Joshua Brooks
Strong bookings for Chow Down & Coded Rhythm here. Evian Christ has enjoyed a great couple of years recently, with extremely well-received music released on Triangle Records, and the small matter of collaborating with Kanye. Mssingno’s XE2 was voted track of 2013 by Fact Magazine and his R&B-laced production styles have marked him as one to watch in 2014 and beyond. £7 tickets are still available, which is not a bad deal at all.

Sat 10 May | Hotmilk | The Roadhouse
Huge headliner for Hotmilk’s Afrobeats special, as Afrobeats king DJ Neptizzle makes the trip up from London. With summer just around the corner (apparently) his show on Reprezent Radio is not to be missed; and this should be one special party. Residents Joey B, Amanlikesam and Fox are some of the best around and some guys from Swing Ting are playing as well.
Entry: £3 before 12, £5 after
Sat 10 May | Blaque | Band on the Wall
Crash presents a night of deep tribal house at Band on the Wall. Expect dark grooves and spectacular visuals to combine in equal measures, leaving you mesmerised by this surging house style. MKY MK, Kieran Edwards, Never late in the day and DJ Meza feature between 9pm and 3am.
Tickets: £9 adv from bandonthewall.org
Thanks to Swing Ting – the third Saturday of the month at Soup Kitchen.
