We’ve got some good ones this week, with tips on how to celebrate Halloween on the cheap, an after hours special at MOSI and the return of the Saddleworth Creative Network’s seasonal craft fair.
Free Halloween events
Don’t be scared by the price of Halloween, as there’s a few good freebies going on. We’ve already mentioned the Violent Femmes vs. Pop Bastard #ALLDEAD event at Fuel in Withington, but elsewhere you’ll also find a free bash at the All Star Lanes Monster Mash, where there will be face painting, apple bobbing, fire eating, DJs and a free Krispy Kreme for anyone who arrives in fancy dress. There’s also a prize of free bowling for life for the best-dressed punter.

Hooked on Music Late ft. Dave Haslam (pictured)
Earlier this year MOSI ran an interactive game (which we mentioned here) exploring what it is that makes music so catchy, and now they’re inviting you over to discuss the results as part of Manchester Science Festival. In an evening that incorporates dance, music, silent disco and conversation, the after-hours special will kick off with a Hooked on Music debate, followed by a DJ set from Haçienda legend and Mancunion favourite Dave Haslam. It’s completely free – you just have to register here.
Sat 1 Nov, Museum of Science & Industry, Liverpool Road, Castlefield, M3 4FP, 7pm – 11pm, FREE, www.manchestersciencefestival.com
