Blackjack Brewtap
Returning for its second outing of 2015, Brewtap opens its doors for its famous Brewtap bash. Expect 12 keg lines and 4 cask lines, new brews from Weird Beard and Redchurch, as well as a killer street food line-up curated by GRUB featuring Fat Annie’s, NOLA and Mac Daddies. DJs will also be spinning tunes, making this one promising weekend of sunny, boozy good times.

Jill Murphy at Oldham Library
Rounding off the Oldham Bookmark Festival, Oldham Library pays homage to one of the UK’s finest children’s writers, Jill Murphy. The woman behind classics like Piece at Last, A Piece of Cake and, of course, The Worst Witch, this free Family Fun Day boasts activities and crafts inspired by her works. And you’ll also be able to meet the woman responsible for shaping the childhoods of so many – this is also free but you’ll need to book in to one of three sessions at either 10.30am, 1pm or 3pm.

Printworks Unsigned
Whether you’re a singer-songwriter, duo or band, if you’re a musical type with something to prove, make your way to the Printworks this weekend for the first round of Printworks Unsigned auditions ahead of the live final in May. The city’s biggest live singing competition, contestants will perform in front of the judging panel – or if you’re a little less attracted to the limelight, why not bob down to see how things are progressing for others?

Parkour in Piccadilly Gardens
Piccadilly Gardens becomes a parkour hotspot this weekend as the folk from Evolve Gym set about inspiring Mancunians to get up off the sofa, jump around and live life to the full. Parkour and free-running demos will span all day Friday and Saturday, and they’ll also be handing out free Reon Caffeine Strips samples, a flavoured sugar-free 20mg hit of caffeine. Buzzing mate, buzzing.
