With all the furore that kicks up around this time of year about whether or not chocolate eggs have ‘Easter’ written on them, we think it’s important to remember the true meaning of the season: you get four days off. In a row. This concept has not been lost on Northern Quarter institution Odd Bar as it prepares for a five-day blow out, starting with DJ Cutterz of Manchester hip-hop collective Taste The Diff’rence on the Thursday night before that beloved Bank Holiday Friday. Keeping the party going is Odd’s resident Friday night DJ Nic Zube (Swiss Lips), followed by a Saturday with DJ THC, who boasts his own weekly show on Fuse FM – and you can party into the wee small hours, knowing you have a two-day recovery period ahead. Easter Sunday is where things really hot up as Gold Teeth takes up from 8pm to help you completely lose track of what day it is. Making their Odd Bar debut, the hip-hop taste-makers are bringing DJ Yung Jozy with them for a banging FREE party. Finally, if you still have the energy, partake in Bang the Drum’s ‘The Big Bang! Bank Holiday Monday All-Dayer’, chocked full of the best bands and musical acts in Manchester and beyond. Starting at 3pm, get down to see the likes of psychedelic upstarts Manalishi, poetic singer-songwriter Jack Conman and headliners The Hangnails, a punk duo from York who have gained glowing reports from NME and BBC Radio 1. With seven bands on throughout the day and four DJs over the course of the weekend, you know where to go if you find yourself at an odd end this weekend.
