One of the first tankard toasting, shanty chanting humdingers of the new calendar year is Mark Radcliffe’s Galleon Blast at Band on the Wall. The maritime folk merchants are famed for their piracy of others’ musical treasures, pilfering from the catalogues of The Pogues, The Waterboys, Ewan McColl and plenty more, alongside a tricorne-ful of their own merry tales. Warming up will be trans-Pennine ‘psychotic wonk poppers’ Faerground Accidents, who’ll leave no timbers shivering before the Galleon take the stage.
