Prolific blues musician Lucky Peterson is to perform his picks from Jimmy Smith’s acclaimed jazz career at Manchester’s Band on the Wall. The show brings to the stage the 2017 tribute LP by Peterson, whose dexterity with both the guitar and piano has seen him release music via seminal labels like Verve and Jazz Village across almost five decades. Via his mastery of the Hammond B-3 organ, Peterson breathes new soul into Smith’s legendary repertoire and is a must-see for fans of the genre.
