Jazzhop have gone from strength to strength with their powerful throwing together of live jazz and hip hop. It makes total sense for them to conjure up a J Dilla night with a live tribute. Enter Lychee, a Manchester live band fusing funk, hip hop, soul and dub together with vocalists Layfullstop, Blind Mic and Mayo De Zulu. Myself and Noel Edge of Taste The Diff’rence will be on DJ duties. Some proceeds from the night will be going to Lupus UK, in memory of Dilla.

Trusty selectors Swindells and Sharples enter the phone box time machine to bring you hip hop from back in the day, from the year that Gordon the Gopher and Schofield were replaced in the Broom Cupboard by Edd the Duck and Andy Crane.

Whether you know him for his selections for Kon and Amir’s Off Track series, his 180 Proof record label (reissuing underground black jazz) or you’ve heard of his legendary DJ sets from around the world, Amir visiting the city is an event to be celebrated. The Better Days crew handle the occasion in typical family style: intimate venue (promised to be 5 minutes from Deansgate and announced on Thursday) and tickets by email. Limited capacity!
