Firebird Hope exploded onto the Manchester food scene earlier this year, starting at Hatch and have now moved to Manchester’s newest live venue and bar, YES, serving free-range and vegan chicken sandwiches – a simple concept, delivered with a bang. This is posh and perfect boozing grub, best eaten with a kegged negroni cocktail or a pint. The buttermilk chicken burger was delicious as always and quality has not been compromised. Expect a sizely piece of free range chicken, generously coated with a top secret spice mix and then lovingly fried. As well some coquettishly pickled cucumbers, fresh slaw and for a touch of heat, some hot sauce, served in a fresh sourdough bun. Likewise with the seitan burger, which could be hailed as Manchester’s best vegan eat. FireBird Hope now serve lime salted skin-on fries, which at lunchtime, only cost £1 extra and should be eaten with lots of garlic aioli. Options are as follows: regular burger £6.95, vegan burger £6.95, ‘Extended mix’ £9, add fries for £1 (Mon-Sat), buy one get one for £1 (Sun).
