Book tickets: Werkha comes to The Loft on Quay Street

This festive season, multi-purpose new venue The Loft will host an evening of music spearheaded by multi-talented Werkha, alias of Mancuncian musician Tom A. Leah. A frequent player on the local scene, last year saw Werkha release two EPs embracing an eclectic range of influences, from jazz and soul to West African percussion and traditional Chinese instrumentation. The musician, producer and DJ will bring his virtuoso live band to Quay Street on 14 December, fresh from dropping in on a number of festivals across Europe this year, alongside touring with Bonobo and Chet Faker. Joining him on Quay Street, writer, performance artist and producer Shebekeke (AKA Keisha Thompson) presents her award-winning solo show ‘Man on the Moon’ following the launching her debut book, Lunar. DJ Rebecca Vasmant is also on the bill bringing her fresh twist on dance music along with an appearance from local loop artist Clarky, offering a live loop and beat-boxing set to complete an exciting bill.
