Coming six years after their sophomore effort ‘>>’, alt-rock trio Beak have taken another step forward with latest record ‘>>>’, and in support of the record we can expect a night of motorik jams and post-punk energy at Gorilla on 6 February. Recorded over a year, the new album was recorded live and is considered their “boldest” yet by Rolling Stone, praising it’s cinematic style and expansive sound. Led by Portishead stalwart Geoff Barrow, the Bristol-based outfit combine elements of krautrock, fuzzy psychedelia, art rock and post-punk, all brought together through a signature sound of reverb-soaked fuzzy guitars, hypnotic bass and relentless drum grooves set against anxious energy and atmospheric vocals. Since forming a decade ago, the band have played across the globe, performing alongside the likes of Arcade Fire, Savages, Chris Cunningham and The Horrors in the process.
Wed 06 Feb, Gorilla, 54-56 Whitworth Street, Manchester, M1 5WW, Tel: 0161 826 2998, 7:30pm, £16 (sold out, returns only), www.seetickets.com
