Originally requiring over 30 musicians to perform it, Mike Oldfield’s seminal album Tubular Bells celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. To celebrate, multi-talented pair Daniel Holdsworth and Aidan Roberts revive their 2012 Edinburgh Fringe smash hit to tackle the twenty-odd instruments between just the two of them, recreating one of the 20th Century’s most important albums live on stage. Having already had a sell-out run, as well as winning a Herald Angel Award, the duo take the show back out on the road this summer in a colossal tour across the UK, finishing up with an August residency back at this year’s Fringe. With a stopover at The Lowry next Sunday, tickets for this five-star-rated performance will be hot tickets as the duo takes on Oldfield’s 1970s masterpiece.
