Returning to play alongside staff and students in a ‘multi-piano spectacular’, award-winning composer Graham Fitkin performs as part of the RNCM’s Thursday Lunchtimes: Six Pianos show on Thu 6 Oct.

Trading out one piano for six, Fitkin opens with Flak, a piece involving eight hands playing across two pianos in a ‘burst of musical energy and exuberance’.

Immediately after, there’s a performance of Chasm written by Fitkin’s lifelong friend and collaborator Eleanor Alberga, before a ‘gripping end to the afternoon’ sees six pianists each play their own concert grand piano in the vibrant interplay of Fitkin’s piece, Log.

Later that day, Fitkin brings together four renowned pianists for a joyous ensemble performance as part of his Fairly Relentless Fitkins Tour. Unapologetically direct and vibrant, Fitkin’s works for Two Pianos, Eight Hands unite himself, Clare Hammond, Kathryn Stott and Ruth Wall for a spectacular evening of music, finishing with a performance of Fitkin’s newest composition, Bla Bla Bla, which combines pianos, samplers and spoken word.
