The Bridgewater Hall unites the world’s best musicians for its 27th International Concert Series

The Bridgewater Hall’s International Concert Series returns for the 27^th time with a selection of the world’s leading ensembles and musicians

Opening with a heavenly rendition of Bach and Mozart by Angela Hewitt alongside the Basel Chamber Orchestra, the series features performances from several world-renowned pianists across the programme, including romantic classics in recital by Benjamin Grosvenor, a Tchaikovsky recital from ‘thrilling’ pianist Frank Dupree with the Philharmonia Orchestra, and a one-off performance by the legendary Lang Lang.

Celebrating the strength of cultural solidarity in a time of unimaginable suffering, The Bridgewater Hall welcomes the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine for its Manchester debut, while the Orchestra de l’Entente Cordiale – an initiative which unites the best young musicians from England and France – also performs in the city for the first time.

Elsewhere in the series, a glittering array of luminaries deliver a diverse range of orchestral performances; Tenebrae return with a ‘sumptuous’ evening of floral farewells, while the China Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra join esteemed violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen for an eclectic concert which ranges from Respighi’s Pines of Rome to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Rounding off a staggeringly decorated bill of musicians, Manchester-based cellist Abel Selaocoe joins forces with Britten Sinfonia to perform Sir John Tavener’s achingly beautiful The Protecting Veil, while Manchester Collective return for the latest International Series instalment with a ‘typically audacious’ programme which features four world premieres.
